Review of the vintage shopping at the Sunday Market

Posted by Amanda Villaruel | | | | |
If you're visiting or living in Oslo and love vintage items, you should definitely stop by the Sunday Market in Grunerlokka. Every Sunday from 12-17 there's a market right on the Aker river.

Gypsy Wagon, a shop specializing in vintage items, offers nice vintage handbags, purses, shoes, jackets and wallets. The company's motto is "One man's trash - another man's treasure", and the antidote of fast fashion.

I chatted a bit with the owner who seemed passionate about the concept and the store. She told me that some of the vintage bags came from Denmark. No surprise there actually, since Denmark is the vintage mecca in Scandinavia.

What I enjoyed about this particular vintage, was the variety.

You'll find bags and purses in many different colors, shapes and sizes. Whether you have a casual style, or more classic or boho-inspired, you'll find something that catches your attention. Ah, and what about the vintage suitcases! ;-)

Otherwise, you'll find excellent craftsmanship by various Norwegian designers at the market, anything from jewelry to children's clothes and accessories. Ethnic style is in the wind again, and at the market I spotted some warm scarves in navajo style (1 for 300 kr, 2 for 500 kr).

I bought a medium-sized bucket shoulder bag in a lovely burgundy color from Gypsy Wagon, and paid 600 kr :-)

Intro to Grunerlokka - a trendy, revamped neighborhood in Oslo.

For my Scandinavian readers:
